A number of long and medium wave stations in Germany, some of which are receivable in the UK, are leaving AM at the end of the year. The frequencies involved are (Deutschlandfunk via Donebach, Berlin and Munich) on 153, 177 and 207 kHz long wave and (Deutschlandfunk via Thurnau / Nordkirchen, Braunschweig / Ravensburg, Neumünster and Heusweiler) on 549, 756, 1269 and 1422 kHz medium wave. The stations will continue to be broadcast on FM and on DAB+.
UPDATE (12 October 2014).
Deutschlandfunk will eliminate two long wave transmitters (105 kHz and 177 kHz) by 31 Dec 2014. Their station operating on 207 kHz is currently off the air for tower inspection. Medium wave will continue until 2015. Presently, Deutschlandfunk doesn't cover Germany on FM, so new issues will need to be addressed.
Thank you for this information, Uwe in Germany.
