Voice of America - IBB, transmitting from Selebi-Phikwe, Botswana, was heard on 3 January 2012. An English broadcast of "African Beat" was monitored 20.10-21.00 UTC (broadcast time 20.00-21.00 UTC) on 4.930 kHz. Reception (SINPO) was 35443 -- fair signal strength with slight fading and some atmospheric noise, yet audible and clear speech. At 20.35 UTC reception improved to 45444.
Reception report was emailed to VOA and IBB Monitoring. A reception report was also posted to VOA in Washington DC. Bill Whitacre of IBB Monitoring confirmed the broadcast on 4 January 2011 by email. VOA in Washinging DC confirmed with a QSL Card on 18 June 2012. I received another QSL card of this retroactive reception report on 5 February 2012.
