Radio Bluebird*, a medium-wave pirate station, was logged on 6 August 2014. German language songs, including "Kommt Der Fruhling", yodelling and polka tunes were heard from 22.37 to 22.50 UTC. Transmission ceased at 22.50 UTC after station ID and closing comments from DJ. Reception on 1638 kHz was (SINPO) 34423 -- fair signal, clear audio and long fades while using a remote SDR receiver in the Netherlands.

Reception report was emailed to Radio Bluebird the following day.

Radio De Rode Adelaar

Radio De Rode Adelaar*, transmitting presumably somewhere from The Netherlands, was logged on 6 August 2014. A selection old Country & Western songs, including the Carpenters' "Jambalya",  Charlie Rich's "The Most Beautiful Girl", Johnny Cash's "Orange Blossom Special", Lynn Anderson's "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" and Marty Robbins' "El Paso" was heard from 17.40 to 18.15 UTC. Station ID, "This is Radio De Rode Adelaar", was observed at 17.45 UTC. Reception on 6.250 kHz (SINPO) was 35433 -- fair to good signal with occasion fading, clear and audible AM transmission while using a remote SDR receiver located in the Netherlands.

Reception report was emailed on the same day to Radio De Rode Adelaar. An eQSL from Chris at De Rode Adelaar was received on 8 August 2014.

Associazione Amici di Italcable (Italy)

Associazione Amici di Italcable*, transmitting with an output power on 90 watts from Viareggio, Italy, was logged on 6 August 2014 from a remote SDR receiver in the Netherlands. Between 17.17 till 17.37 UTC, various genre of music was mixed up and under time pips, including Johann Pachebel's "Canon in D" at 17.18 UTC, Giuseppe Verdi's "Pilgrim's Chorus" at 17.26 UTC, Josef Strauss's "Feuerfest" at 17.37 UTC and other classical, jazz and pop tunes. Brief fax transmission was observed between pips and music, followed by a male announcer presenting the time on each minute. Station ID was noted in Italian at 17.30 UTC: "Italcable, stazione radio Italcable, trasmissionesperimentale del segnale orario, frequenza 10 megahertz. Il segnale viene inviato in modalita SRG. Per maggiori informazioni www.italcable.it . Locator JN53DV". Reception on 10 MHz (SINPO) was 34433 -- fair signal strength, fading, clear audio.

Transport Radio (Nauen)

Transport Radio*, transmitting from Nauen, Germany, was logged on 6 August 2014 using a remote receiver in the Netherlands. English and Dutch language disco and contemporary pop tunes with news headlines and frequent Transport Radio IDs, promos and jingles in Dutch were heard between 09.27 to 10.00 UTC. Reception on 6.095 kHz was (SINPO) 55555 - excellent!

Radio Europa 24* (Germany)

Radio Europa 24*, in a test transmission presumably from Germany, was logged on 5 August 2014 using a remote SDR receiver located in the Netherlands. Broadcast monitored from 17.45 to 18.15 UTC entailed repeated station interval (guitar tune) and station ID in German, English and Italian. Message in English announced, "I will soon hear this frequency. EUROPE 24 is information and entertainment for whole of Europe. Stay tuned on this frequency." Lengthy guitar composition followed. Reception on 6.150 kHz was (SINPO) 43444 -- fair to good signal strength, audible and clear speech, despite station splatter and some fading.

Reception report was emailed to Radio Europa 24 on same day. QSL card  and letter from Germany arrived in the mail on 7 November 2014.

HCJB Die Stimme Der Anden (Weenermoor)

HCJB Die Stimme Der Anden (Ecuador)*, transmitting from Weenermoor, Germany, was logged on 5 August 2014 using a remote SDR receiver in the Netherlands. Evangelical music and religious sermon with station ID at the top of the hour was noted from 14.45 to 15.15 UTC. Reception on 3.995 kHz was (SINPO) 35433 -- fair to good signal strength, audible and clear speech, despite long fades and some atmospheric noise.

Reception report was submitted on-line and emailed to HCJB Die Stimme Der Anden (Ecuador). This colourful QSL card with Ecuadoran postage stamps arrived in the mail on 28 August 2014. Note HCJB Die Stimme Der Anden requests IRCs or $$ to cover postage.

Previous QSLs from HCJB Die Stimme Der Anden were from transmitter sites in Santiago (Chile) and Nauen (Germany), both were received in Malaysia using a Sangean ATS-909 and Tecsun S-2000. Insomuch as the Weenermoor TX site is difficult to received in Malaysia I opted to use the remote receiver in the Netherlands,

Radio Merlin International (UK)

Radio Merlin International*, transmitting presumably somewhere in the UK, was logged on 5 August 2014 using a remote SDR receiver in the Netherlands. Archive shows and radio skits from Radio Caroline in the 1960s as well as music (Moody Blues, Beach Boys) of the period was monitored from 15.20 to 16.05 UTC. Reception on 6.305 kHz was (SINPO) 25322 -- poor to weak signal strength, long fades and severe atmospheric noise. RMI was barely audible at times...very noisy!

Reception report was emailed to RMI on same day. Paul at RMI replied within a few hours with an eQSL and photos of RMI transmitter and studio.
