Radio Taiwan International Certificate and Folders

 

Radio Taiwan International gifted a couple of RTI folders and their official Monitor Certificate for English language programmes in Malaysia for the 2021 year.

Radio Slovakia International* (via Kall-Krekel)

Radio Slovakia International* via Kall-Krekel, Germany was logged on 12 December 2020, here in the Kuala Lumpur area, using a remote SDR receiver in the Netherlands. Their English language was observed from 10.00 till 10.30 UTC. After news, "Slovakia Today" profiled the work of Slovak photographer Dizo Hoffman who worked for 20th Century Fox in the early years, then filmed the 1936 Olympics and Spanish Civil War. The segment touched on the death of his Spanish wife and his move to Liverpool, England where he photographed the Beatles throughout their career. This put him in contact with the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendricks, Scott Walker, Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Frank Sinatra, Bob Marley, Marlon Brando and other luminaries. The second segment of "Slovakia Today" featured a report on the air pollution quality at the 41 sites around Slovakia. Reception on 6.005 kHz rated a SINPO of 55555.


Reception report was emailed on the following day. A QSL card was received  27 January 2021.

Reach Beyond Australia (via Kununurra)

Reach Beyond Australia, transmitting from Kununurra, Western Australia, was logged on 20 January 2021. The Matu language programme observed on 11.945 kHz was Hingna Awl from 12.05 till 12.30 UTC.  Kannada language programme monitored from 12.10 till 12.15 UTC was Vishwasave Jaya. The Hindi programme Lo Kar Lo Baat was noted from 12.15 til 12.35 UTC. The latter two programmes were heard on 11.825 kHz. Reception on 11.825 kHz was SINPO 55555; on 11.945 kHz, SINPO rated 45454 -- slight atmospheric noise, yet clear audio content

Reception report was emailed on the following day. An eQSL card was received  26 January 2021.

Voice of Turkey

Voice of Turkey, transmitting from  Emirler (Turkey), was logged on 29 November 2020. Pashto and Dari programming with heavy amount of Turkish pop music was monitored from 16.10 till 17.05 UTC. Reception on 9.595 kHz was SINPO 35333 -- fair signal strength. moderate atmospheric noise and  fading.

Reception report was emailed on the following day to Voice of Turkey. QSL card arrived in the mail on 21 January 2020.

Radio Taiwan International

Radio Taiwan International's 109th National Day Broadcast "Proud of Taiwan"  was received on 10 October 2020, from 02.00 till 03.00 UTC.  Reception on the shortwave frequency of 15.665 kHz was SINPO: 55555 -- Excellent throughout much of the broadcast until about 02.57 UTC when a Mandarin speaking station (suspect CNR/CRI) in China was observed under RTI's signal, but RTI remained clear and audible above it. Interestingly the station signed off a few minutes after RTI closed its audio feed.

Reception report was emailed on the same day. A follow-up email was submitted in early January 2021, This QSL card arrived in the mail on 15 January 2021.

Adventist World Radio (via Talata Volonondry)

Adventist World Radio
, transmitting from Talata Volonondry (Madagascar), was logged on 04 January 2021. Punjabi language broadcast of Indian music and religious content was noted from 15.00 till 15.30 UTC. Reception on the short-wave of 15.150 kHz rated a SINPO of 45444 -- good signal strength, slight fade and atmospheric noise, but overall clear audio content.

Reception report was submitted to three different email addresses on the following day. This eQSL was received on 11 January 2021.

Radio Taiwan International (via Tamsui and Pachung)

Radio Taiwan International, transmitting from Paochung and Tamsui, was longed on 4, 6 and 8 December 2020. Reception of these Englsih language broadcasts on 15.320 kHz (at 03.00 till 04.00 UTC) and 6.185 kHz (16.40 till 17.00 UTC) rated a SINPO of 55555 -- Excellent.

Reception report was emailed on 9th December 2020. QSL card and three blank QSL postcards arrived in the mail on 6 January 2020.

Channel 292* (Special BraneFive QSL)

Channel 292*, transmitting from Rohrbach-Waal, Germany, was logged on 25 September 2020. A special QSL card from the Swiss Rock group BraneFive  for transmission of their debut song "Free the Animal in You" was heard at 08.58 UTC. An announcement and the song was heard on the short-wave frequency of 6.070 kHz, here in the Kuala Lumpur area, while using the remote SDR receiver at Twente University (The Netherlands). Reception rated a SINPO of 55555. HERE is Brane Five via Channel 292.

Reception report was emailed on the same day. Follow-up email from presumably band member, Elias, was received on 28 September promising a QSL card would be sent. It did indeed arrive on 5 January 2021.

Radio Romania International

Radio Romania International, transmitting from Galbina, was logged on 17 November 2020. Romanian language broadcast of current event reports and Romanian pop music was monitored from 17.30  till 17.55  UTC. Reception on 7.370 kHz rated a SINPO of 35333 - audible and clear signal despite moderate atmospheric noise and fading/
