Voice of Turkey

Voice of Turkey via Emirler was received on 23 June 2019. Malay programming with a lot of Turkish pop songs was observed from 04.00 till 05.00 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 17.720 kHz radiated a SINPO of 35333 - fair signal strength, clear audio content with occasional fading an atmospheric noise.

Reception report was emailed on the same day. QSL card arrived innthe lettetbox on 29 July 2019.

Logbook from 15 June till 24 July 2019

AUSTRIA
Bible Voice Broadcasting via Moosbrunn was received on 15 June 2019. "People's Gospel Hour" featured a commentary on Biblical prohibition of alcohol from 17.45 till 18.05 UTC. Reception on 9.810 kHz was SINPO 44344 -- strong signal, clear audio despite some atmospheric noise and slight fade. HERE is BVB (Moosbrunn).

CHINA
China National Radio
, transmitting from Geermu, Quinghai Province, was logged on 13 July 2019. Chinese pop music and advertisements/promos were monitored from 21.15 till 21.45 UTC. Reception on 1098 kHz (MW) at 21.15 UTC rated a SINPO of 55434 -- strong and clear signal with occasional fading. By 21.30 UTC reception began to deteriorate (SINPO 35423) with increased fading over 3 to 4 minutes, but still audible. Even after 21.45 UTC signal was still audible although fading had begun to increase as grey-line gradually disappeared. Reception on previous days was much better after 13.00 UTC and until 16.05 UTC. The only problem was co-frequency interference from a station in Songkhla, Thailand. HERE is CNR (Geermu).

IRAN
The Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran
via Sirjan was logged on 15 June 2019.  Dari programming was  heard from 11.25 till 12.10 UTC Reception on 13.725 kHz  initially rated a SINPO of 43434 -- fair to good signal, station spatter from adjacent frequencies, slight fading and atmospheric noise. Reception worsened after 11.45 UTC with increased station splatter and atmospheric noise. After 12.00 UTC, signal was much weaker, but with no station splatter and reduced noise. JAPAN
NHK World Radio Japan
via Yamata was received on 21 July 2019. Vietnamese programming was noted  from 23.30 till 23,40 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 13.650 kHz rated a SINPO of  55555. HERE is NHK in Vietnamese.

NHK World Radio Japan via Yamata was received on 21 July 2019. Burmese programming was noted  from 23.40 till 00.00 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 13.650 kHz rated a SINPO of  55555. HERE is NHK in Burmese.

PHILIPPINES
British Broadcasting Corporation
via VOA/IBB Tinang was received on 1 July 2019. "History Hour" and news in English was heard  from 23.15 till 00.00 UTC. Reception on 11.825 kHz was SINPO 55444 -- strong signal and clear audio despite slight fading. Station splatter from adjacent frequency degraded signal at 23.59 UTC to 53443. HERE is BBC (Tinang).

ROMANIA
Radio Romania International
via Galbeni-Bacau was monitored on 15 June 2019. English programming was observed from 03.45 till 03.56  UTC. Reception  on 11.825 kHz was SINPO 25332 -- weak signal, atmospheric noise and fading, despite the poor conditions signal was occasionally audible and clear. On previous days, after 03.00 UTC, signal was  better at 35443.

Radio Romania International via Galbeni-Bacau was received on 5 July 2019. French programming was monitored from 16.32 till 17.00 UTC. Reception on 11.975 kHz rated a SINPO of 45444 -- good signal and clear audio despite atmospheric noise and slight fading.

TAJIKISTAN
Adventist World Radio via Dushanbe was received on 24 July 2019. A Kachin programming was observed from from 13.20 till 13.30 UT. Reception on the short-wave frequency of 12.055 kHz rated a SINPO of 35333 -- fair signal, occasionally clear when not fading under severe atmospheric noise. HERE is AWR in Kachin.

TAIWAN
Radio Taiwan International
via Paochung was received on 3 July 2019. English programming to South East Asia was received from 03.00 till 04.00 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 15.320 kHz was SINPO 55444.

TURKEY

via Emirler was received on 23 June 2019. Malay programming with a lot of Turkish pop songs was observed from 04.00 till 05.00 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 17.720 kHz kHz  radiated a SINPO of 35333 - fair signal strength, clear audio content with occasional fading an atmospheric noise

Voice of Turkey via Emirler was received on 5 July 2019. An Azeri broadcast of Turkish news, cultural features and music was monitored from 15.30 till 16.25 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 9.505 kHz  radiated a SINPO of 55544 -- strong signal, clear audio, despite slight fading at sign-on which stablised later in the broadcast.

UNITED STATES
WBCQ
in Montecello, Maine  was received on 18 June 2019. English talk format was observed from from 09.30 till 10.00 UTC. Reception on 9.330 kHz was SINPO 15321 -- weak signal, but audible although content is not clear and some fading. HERE is WBCQ.

VIETNAM
Suara Vietnam (Voice of Vietnam)
via Hanoi was logged on 21 July 2019. Indonesian programming was monitored from 23.00 till 23.17 UTC. Reception on 9.840 kHz rated SINPO 55555

Radio Romania International (via Galbina)

Radio Romania International via Galbina was, received on 6 March 2019. An Arabic broadcast of topics on Romania was monitored from 16.45 ill 16.57 UTC (broadcast time 16.30 till 16.57 UTC). Reception on 6.100 kHz was SINPO 44444 - good signal strength, some co-frequency interference under your signal, otherwise clear and audible content. Radio Romania International (via Tiganesti)

Radio Romania International via Tiganesti was heard on 4 February 2019.  A Spanish language broadcast was monitored from 00.07 till 00.30 UTC till it faded under atmospheric noise. Reception on the short-wave frequency of 9.600 kHz initially rated a SINPO of 25322 -- weak but audible signal, with some discernible content, despite fading; then at 00.20 UTC signal began to fade away with SINPO of 25311.

Radio Romania International via Galbina was heard on 19 January 2019, from 06.30 till 06.57 UTC. THis English language broadcast to Australia and Asia was received on the short-wave frequency of 15.450 kHz. SINPO rated 45444 -- good signal strength, clear and audible, despite slight fading and some atmospheric noise.

British Broadcasting Corporation via IBB Tinang, Philippines was received on 1 July 2019. English language broadcast of the "History Hour" from 23.15 till 00.00 UTC featured reports on the Stonewall Gay Rights Movement book by Eric Markus, followed report on Iraqi chemical attack on Kurds by Saddam Hussein's regime, promo for BBC programme "Marching to the Fast Beat." A Summary of News presented by Gloria Marshall followed. The "History Hour" resumed with discussion on Joseph Heller's book "Catch-22," serial murders committed by Fred and Rose West in southern England, and 1969 movement called "Association to Aid Fat People." Reception on the shortwave frequency of 11.825 kHz rated a SINPO of 55444 -- strong signal and clear audio despite slight fading. Station splatter from adjacent frequency degraded signal at 23.59 UTC to 53443. HERE is BBC (Tinang).

Charleston Radio International in Germany was logged  25 May 2019. A selection of non-stop music from the 20s and 30s was observed from 22.50 till 23.10 UTC. Reception on 5.140 kHz rate a SINPO of 24322 -- poor signal strength, but occasionally audible content despite fading and atmospheric noise. HERE is Charleston Radio International.

All India Radio Hyderabad (Telangana)

All India Radio  Hyderabad, transmitting from Hayatnagar (Vanasthalipuram), Ranga Reddy, Telangana (India) was logged on 24 February 2019. Classical / Devotional Indian music was monitored from 17.08 till 17.22 UTC. Reception on 738 kHz (MW) rated a SINPO of 23412 -- long periods of  fading (every 8 to 10 minutes) largely hampered reception of your station; otherwise when received signal strength was fair and clarity of content good. Before 17.00 UTC, strong interference from a station in Thailand made reception impossible. HERE is AIR Hyderbad.

Voice of Vietnam, transmitting from Hanoi, was logged on 7 June 2019. This English language broadcast featured news about Vietnam, "Current Affairs," "Village Life," VOV promotional spot for  "Colourful Ethnicities" and a song by Vietnamese boy band, Monster. This broadcast was monitored from 10.00 till 10.27 UTC. Reception on  9.840 khz rated a SINPO of 54544 -- strong signal strength, slight transmitter noise and slight fading, otherwise clear and good reception throughout the transmission. KBS World Radio, transmitting from Woofferton (England),  was logged on 4 March 2019. Russian broadcast featured programmes "Speak in Korean" and World Congress Report on Information Technology and Samsung Electronics. This was monitored from 18.35 to 19.00 UTC (broadcast time from 18.00 to 19.00 UTC). Reception on 6.040 kHz rated a SINPO of 35443 -- good signal strength, good audio content, some atmospheric noise. Reception report was emailed to Russian service of KBS and submitted online in English on the following day. QSL card with sticker and programme schedule arrived in the mail on 10 July on 2019.

Voice of America Calendar 2019 for July


Voice of America Calendar 2019 for July.

 FEATURED: Highland Scenic Highway runs through the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia along the mountainous regions and dark forests of the Allegheny Highlands. The road is 43 miles long and reaches to heights of 4,500 feet. This route is especially a sight to see during the fall when the trees across the mountains have changed colours from greens to beautiful reds and yellows.
