Voice of Turkey's Fall/Winter 2011 programme schedule featured an interesting write up on the 17th century Ottoman traveller, Evliya Celebi. This is one of the niceties of short-wave listening; not only does one get to hear another country, one is exposed to cultural aspects one might otherwise never learn about. Moreover, the literature is a small keepsake.
