FEBA - Voice of Selamna via IBRA

Radio FEBA and Voice of Selamna / IBRA, transmitting presumably from Kigali, Rwanda, was logged on 11 December 2013. Religious talk, current events and Horn of Africa music in Oromo (first half of broadcast) and Tigrinya (in the later half of the broadcast by Radio Selamna) was observed from 17.00 to 17.57 UTC. Reception on 9.540 kHz was (SINPO) 34443 - fair signal strength and discernible speech through much of the broadcast.

Reception reports were emailed to FEBA in UK and South Africa and IBRA Media in Sweden the following day. Gosta Akerlund, Vice President of IBRA Media, emailed on 10 January confirming reception report of FEBA  and Voice of Selamna.

Adventist World Radio/KSDA (Agat, Guam)


Adventist World Radio via KSDA in Agat, Guam was logged on 8 December 2013. An English language broadcast of WaveScan was monitored from 22.35 to 23.00 UTC (broadcast time 22.30 to 23.00 UTC). Jeff White presented a feature on HMAS Sydney and German cruiser Kormoran. Philippine DX Report and Australia DX Report was also heard during this half hour broadcast. Reception on 15.320 kHz was (SINPO) 55445 -- excellent signal strength and audio clarity, despite some minor fading.

Reception reports were emailed to WaveScan, Pilipinas DX and Australia DX the following day. Bob Padula replied with an eQSL for Australia DX Report within a few hours after emailing the report to him. Henry at Pilipinas DX emailed on 12 December 2013 promising to send a paper QSL; on 22 December he sent an eQSL.

Atlantic 2000 international (Web-radio / Internet)

Atlantic 2000 international broadcasting on shortwave (7.310 kHz from 09.00 to 10.00 UTC and 9.480 kHz from 10.00 to 11.00 UTC) and Internet was logged on 8 December 2013. Shortwave transmissions could not be received in South East Asia, so an Internet stream at 24 kps was used. An enjoyable hour of English and French songs with frequent station IDs was heard from 08.55 to 10.00 UTC.

A reception report was emailed to Atlantic 2000 International. An eQSL was promised on 10 December 2013. Verification was emailed on 17 December 2013.

Voice of Turkey

Voice of Turkey, transmitting from Emirler, was logged on 7 December 2013. An English language broadcast of news, Turkish Press Review and music, and DX Report was observed from 21.25 to 22.21 UTC. Reception on 9.610 kHz (SINPO) was 55545 -- excellent signal strength and clarity.

Reception report was emailed to English Desk at TRT. QSL card with coaster arrived in the mail on 16 January 2014.

All India Radio Mumbai (via Bhopal)

All India Radio (AIR) Mumbai, transmitting from Bhopal, was received on 5 December 2013, during extended radio coverage of the India vs South Africa cricket match. Commentary on the players and event, advertisements for "Jago Grahak Jago" and snippets of English and Hindi pop tunes were observed from 18.55 to 19.50 UTC. Reception on 4.810 kHz was (SINPO) 44444 -- good signal strength with minor fading and atmospheric noise, otherwise a terrific audio clarity.

Reception report was emailed the following day. Hopefully a response from AIR will be forthcoming. After a follow-up email to Spectrum Manager in May, I received an email on 15 May 2014. QSL card indeed arrived in the mail on 22 August 2014.
