BBC Encompass (via Tinang)

BBC Encompass, transmitting from Tinang, Philippines, was logged on 1 July 2019. English broadcast featured "History Hour" which reported on the Stonewall Gay Rights Movement book by Eric Markus, followed report on Iraqi chemical attack on Kurds by Saddam Hussein's regime, promo for BBC programme "Marching to the Fast Beat", then discussion on Joseph Heller's book "Catch-22," serial murders committed by Fred and Rose West in southern England, and 1969 movement called "Association to Aid Fat People", and lastly Summary of News presented by Gloria Marshall. This was monitored from 23.15 till 00.00 UTC. Reception on 11.825 kHz rated a SINPO of 55444 -- strong signal and clear audio despite slight fading. Station splatter from adjacent frequency degraded signal at 23.59 UTC to 53443. HERE is BBC via Tinang.

Reception report was emailed to Encompass on 12 March 2020. I presume this is verification for the above report, as one of four BBC reception reports were sent to Encompass in 2019 and 2020. QSL card arrived in the mail on 22 June 2021.

Voice of Turkey

Voice of Turkey, transmitting from Emirler, was logged on  12 May 2021. A broadcast of mostly Turkish pop music and station IDs in English was observed from 16.49 till 17.17 UTC. Reception on the shortwave frequency of 15.520 kHz rated a SINPO of 45444 -- good signal strength and slight atmospheric noise

BBC Encompass (via Ascension Island)

 

BBC Encompass, transmitting from Atlantic Relay Station in Georgetown, Ascension Island, was logged on 4 April 2020. English langiage broadcast of news and current event reports was monitored from 17.15 till 17.35 UTC. Reception on the frequencies of 17.780 kHz and 17.830 kHz rated a SINPO (on both frequencies) of 25222 -- weak signal strength, audible content, although not entirely discernible, and barely breaking above atmospheric noise. Reception was slightly better on 17.780 kHz. HERE is BBC Ascension.

Reception report was emailed to Encompass on 5 April 2020. I presume this is verification for the above report, as one of four BBC reception reports were sent to Encompass in 2019  and 2020. QSL card arrived in the mail on 22 June 2021.

BBC - British East Mediterranean Relay Station (via Limassol)

BBC, transmitting from British East Mediterranean Relay Station in Limassol, Cyprus, was logged on 6 March 2020. An Arabic language broadcast featuring a current events creport on the coronavirus was monitored from 18.15 till 18.35 UTC. Reception on the medium-wave frequency of 720 kHz rated a SINPO of 43433 -- good strength when not fading under and mixing with Radio Silaturahim (in Kota Bikasi, West Java, Indonesia), clear and audible content. HERE is BBC Limassol (MW).

BBC - Eastern Relay Station (via al Seela)

BBC, transmitting from Eastern Relay Station in al Seela, Oman, was received on 5 September 2019. An Arabic language broadcast of news and commentary on current events was observed  between 18.45 till 19.00 UTC. Reception on 1413 kHz (MW) rated a SINPO of 35433 -- fair signal strength, clear audio content, brief fading under atmospheric noise every few minutes. Generally reception is heard nightly after 17.00 UTC under good conditions, and I has been many a times from this transmitter site and frequency over the years. HERE is BBC al Seela (MW).

Reception report was emailed to Encompass on 16 September 2019. I presume this is verification for the above report, as one of four BBC reception reports were sent to BBC Encompass in 2019 and 2020. QSL card arrived in the mail on 14 June 2021.

Radio Thailand World Service

Radio Thailand World Service, transmitting from Ban Dung, was logged on  6 April 2021. English language broadcast current event news in Thailand and tourism was monitored form 14.00 till 14.30 UTC. Reception on their short-wave frequency of  9.390 kHz rated a SINPO of55555 -- Excellent reception

Reception report was emailed on the following day. QSL card arrived in the mail on 11 June 2021.

RX:  Alinco DX-R8T EX ANT: Passive Loop QTH: Malaysia

Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIB), transmitting from Sirjan, was logged on 15 June 2019. Dari language broadcast of religious talks and music was monitored from 11.25 till 12.10 UTC. Reception on 13.725 kHz initially rated a SINPO of 43434 -- fair to good signal, station spatter from adjacent frequencies, slight fading and atmospheric noise. Reception worsened after 11.45 UTC with increased station splatter and atmospheric noise. After 12.00 UTC, signal was much weaker, but with no station splatter and reduced noise.

Reception report was emailed the following day and in subsequent months. Finally, on 12 June 2021 an eQSL was received.  The verifier stated that Customs in some countries had returned paper QSL and other material, so instead an eQSL was sent.

Voice of Turkey, transmitting from Emirler, was logged on 11 April 2021. An English language broadcast of mostly Turkish pop songs and station IDs was observed from 17.00 till 17.25 UTC. Reception in 15.520 kHz rated a SINPO of 34333 -- fair signal strength, audible content, despite severe atmospheric noise and fading. By 17.21 UTC signal was inaudible due to interference from Radio Exterior de Espana.

All India Radio Dharwad (Karnataka)

All India Radio Dharwad (Akashvani Dharwad), transmitting from Sattur, Dharwad, Karnataka (India), was logged on 28 July 2020. South Asian music (i.e. classical Indian music) was observed from 16.50 till 17.05 UTC. Reception on the medium-wave frequency of 765 kHz rated a SINPO of 32432 -- weak to fair signal and clear audio content when not fading and mixing with co-frequency station in Thailand.

Reception report was emailed to Spectrum Management & Synergy on the following day. QSL card arrived in the mail on 3 June 2021.
