Logbook 1 July till 18 July 2020

ALASKA
KNLS
via Anchor Point wa slogged on 4 July 2020. A Russian broadcast to Far East was observed after 09.15 UTC. Reception on 9.695 kHz was SINPO 35333.

AUSTRALIA
VMW
in Waluna, Western Australia, meteorological report with ID was noted just before 15.15 UTC, 12 July 2020. Reception on 6.230 kHz in USB mode was 35433.

AUSTRIA
VORW Radio International via Moosbrunn was logged on 18 July 2020. Selection of mixed pop songs, email shout-outs and Q&A was observed from 17.00 till 18.00 UTC. Reception of 6.070 kHz for this special LIVE 300kW transmission initially at 17.00 UTC rated a SINPO of 23432 --  occasionally audible and clear content, despite sporadic fading and station splatter from China National Radio (CNR) on 6.075 kHz. Around 17.20 UTC reception improved with a SINPO of 34443. By 17.30 UTC, SINPO was 45544 -- good signal strength, clear and audible content, and no station splatter from CNR. FRANCE
Deutsche Welle via Issoudun, was heard on 5 July 2020. An Amharic language broadcast of current events and radio drama was monitored from 16.20 till 17.00 UTC. Reception on the short-wave frequency of 13.775 kHz was SINPO 45544 -- strong signal, clear audio, slight fading. otherwise a decent  transmission.

INDONESIA
Voice of Indonesia via Kalimantan, with Mandarin programming, after 15.50 UTC, 12 July 2020. Reception on 3.325 kHz was SINPO 35333.

IRAN
IRIB Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran via Sirjan, Dari programming after 11.30 UTC, 3 July 2020. IRIB broadcasts are almost always carrier with faint audio, regardless of time and frequency; this transmission was no different. Reception on 13.680 kHz was SINPO 25432.

JAPAN
Radio Nikkei 1 via Chiba Nagara was heard on 9 July 2020. A talk show and selection of J-Pop songs performed by a female singer was observed from 10.20 till 11.00 UTC. Reception on the short-wave frequency of 6.055 kHz rated a SINPO of 55444 - strong signal, clear audio, occasional fading. Signal was detected as early as 09.30 UTC here in South East Asia, but too weak to clearly identify programme content.

KUWAIT
Radio Kuwait with Arabic programming after 16.30 UTC, 11 July 2020. Reception on 15.540 kHz was SINPO 45434.

MALDIVES
Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu (Voice of Maldives) was logged after after 17.15 UTC with regional music, on 1 July 2020. Reception on 1449 kHz was SINPO 44333. -- strong signal, clear audio, occasional fading.

MONGOLIA
Voice of Mongolia
, English programme from 09.00 till 0928 UTC, on 1 July 2020. Station ID and contact details just before sign-off at 09.27 UTC. SINPO on 12.085 kHz was 44333 -- strong signal, but fading and atmospheric disturbance

NEW ZEALAND
Radio New Zealand Pacific, transmitting from Rangitaiki, in a relay broadcast of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's (ABC) Wantok. This news service to Micronesia in Tok Pisin (Pidgin English) was logged on 5.945 kHz, from 11.30 till 12.00 UTC, 2 July 2020. News reports focused primarily on Covid-19 and domestic violence cases around Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and elsewhere in Micronesia.

ROMANIA
Radio Romania International via Galbina was logged on 11 July 2020. Romanian programming with commentary or current events was monitored from 16.50 till 17.00 UTC. Reception on 9.590 kHz rated a SINPO of 35333 -- fair signal with clear audio despite atmospheric noise and fading.

Radio Romania International via Galbina was logged on 11 July 2020. Romanian programming with sports commentary and Romanian pop music was monitored from 17.10 till 17.30 UTC. Reception on 9.500 kHz rated a SINPO of  54444 -- strong signal with clear audio despite interference from China Radio International mixing under your transmission

SRI LANKA
Trans World Radio via Puttalam (SLBC) was received on 7 July 2020. South Asia dialect and English was noted from 15.05 till 15.35 UTC. Reception on the medium-wave frequency of 882 kHz was SINPO 34423 -- strong signal, clear audio when not fading.

TAIWAN
Radio Taiwan International via Paochung was monitored on 2, 5 and 6 July 2020. English programming was observed from 03.00  till 04.00 UTC. Reception on 15.320 kHz was SINPO 55555 -- excellent signal strength throughout transmission.

TURKEY
Voice of Turkey via Emirler was heard on 4 July 2020. A Persian (Farsi) language broadcast consisting mostly of Turkish music with intermittent station IDs and cultural segments was observed from 15.10 till 16.00 UTC.  Reception on 9.765 kHz was SINPO 54544 -- strong signal, clear audio, occasional fading and initially some station splatter but this disappeared later in the transmission.

Voice of Turkey via Emirler was logged on 11 July 2020. English language programmes included News of Turkey and the region, Today in History, Turkey's Tourist Attractions, Letterbox and a couple of Turkish pop tunes was observed from 16.30 till 17.20 UTC. Reception on 15.520 kHz was SINPO 55444 -- strong signal, clear audio despite some atmospheric disturbance.

UZBEKISTAN
IBRA
via Tashkent with Bengali programming was with 15 minute interval before sign-on  at 15.00 UTC, 7 July 2020. Reception on 9.390 kHz was SINPO 45444.

VIETNAM
Voice of Vietnam, transmitting from Hanoi, was logged on 4 July 2020. News and Saturday Report was monitored from 10.05 till 10.28 UTC. Reception on  9.840 kHz was SINPO 54544 -- strong signal, clear audio, occasional fading, otherwise a decent transmission.
