Logbook for 9 - 11 September 2017

ARMENIA
Trans World Radio Europe
, transmitting presumably from Yerevan-Gavar (Armenia),  was heard mixing around 18.00 UTC with programming in Farsi. Reception on 1377 kHz was initially 34433 -- strong and clear broadcast with minimal fading. However, by 18.30 UTC reception worsened with (possible) co-frequency mixing of IRIB Regional Service "Voice of Systan and Baluchestan" / Radio Iran.

INDIA
All India Radio National via Aligarh in a broadcast of classical Indian music was logged from from 16.30 till 17.30 UTC. Reception on 9.380 kHz rated an SINPO of 34433. Comments in Hindi/English followed each composition.

IRAN 
IRIB Radio Quran, transmitting from Goldasteh, Chahardangeh District, Eslamshahr County (Islamic Republic of Iran) was received on 900 kHz (MW). Reception rated a SINPO of 24322 -- weak to fair signal strength when not fading under atmospheric noise and static bursts from a local thunderstorm. Audio was occasionally clear with discernible content when signal was at its strongest. A Farsi language broadcast with tafsir/tajweed commentary from a male announcer was observed between Quran recitation of various ayats by  different male qāriʾ from 18.15 till 18.40 UTC.

 JAPAN
NHK World Radio Japan, transmitting from Palau Medorn, was monitored from 14.00 till 14.30 UTC. An English language broadcast of news, the programmes "Insight" and "Easy Japanese", along with a Japanese pop song was observed. Reception on the short-wave frequency of 11.705 kHz rated a SINPO of 55555 - Excellent reception on all accounts.

SAUDI ARABIA
Huna El' Azim
, a new station located in possibly Jeddah, with mix of Arabic music, talk about Yemen and occasional doa (supplication - prayer) was monitored from 14.15 till 14.40 UTC. Reception on 11.745 kHz was intially SINPO - 43433 - terrible station splatter on adjacent frequency made reception difficult up until 14.30 UTC. At that point, reception improved with greater clarity. HERE is an excerpt from the broadcast.
