Logbook for 24 - 28 August 2017

BULGARIA
Voice Of The Report Of The Week via Kostinbrod was heard from 16.15 till 17.00 UTC, on the short-wave frequency of 9.400 kHz. A selection of music requests from listeners around the world with DJ commentary was observed under good conditions, although transmission was intended for Europe. SINPO rated a 45444 - strong signal, clear audio content with slight fade. Reception dropped off a tad in the last 15-20 minutes of the show. HERE's an audio excerpt from the broadcast.

INDIA 
AIR Jodhpur in Rajasthan was logged around 17.15 UTC till 17.40 UTC with folk/classical Indian music. Reception on the medium-wave frequency of 531 kHz was less than ideal, rating a SINPO of 14321 -- barely audible, breaking even with the noise, and fading every few minutes under.

INDONESIA
RRI Cirebon Pro-1, transmitting from Cirebon (West Java), was logged from 16.30 till 17.00 UTC with a selection of lite contemporary pop music (English language) with comments in Indonesian. Reception on the medium-wave frequency of 864 kHz rate a SINPO 44544 -- relatively strong signal, clear audio content with minor fading. Love the closing Hawaiian type music. Give a listen after the closing station ID.

JAPAN
Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (Asahi Hoso / ABC / JONR), transmitting from Ayazono, Takaishi City Osaka City area, Osaka Prefecture was logged from 18.40 till 19.00 UTC with female announcer hosting a selection of Japanese pop songs. Reception on 1008 kHz (MW) rated a SINPO of 23322 - poor to fair, long fades before an audible signal was detected, occasionally with clear content. MADAGASCAR
World Christian Broadcast KNLS was logged at 18.30 UTC onward with Russian programming for Eastern Europe. Russian songs and talk was observed when not fading under atmospheric noise. SINPO on 9.570 kHz rated 34423. HERE's how World Christian Broadcast sounded in Malaysia.

TAIWAN
FRS - Taiwan Area Fisheries Broadcasting Station (Táiwān Qū Yúyè Guǎngbō Diàntái / BEL2 and BEL3) was logged from 20.25 till 20.49 UTC and 21.25 till 21.40 UTC, on separate days. SINPO on 738 kHz (MW) was 43533 -- strong signal when not fading under and interfered by station in Indonesia; 1143 kHz (MW) was 33422 - slightly weaker signal, but still fair strength with clearly audible content when not fading under. News reports and pop songs were observed on one occasion in Chinese. On another day, the programme "Good Morning Vietnam" featured news and weather conditions in Chinese and Vietnamese.
