Radio New Zealand Pacific

Radio New Zealand Pacific,  transmitting from Rangitaiki, was logged on 20 May 2017. News, sports, weather on the hour, followed by "Heart & Soul", "Sunday Hymns" and "Thought for the Day" with quotes, music and letters/emails from listeners was observed from 14.00 till 15.30 UTC. Reception on 6.170 kHz initially suffered from CNR station splatter (on 6.175 kHz) and fading to rate a SINPO of 33433. It was barely listenable around 14.30 UTC, but signal gradually began to strengthen and stabilise at 14.45 UTC. After 15.15 UTC -- when CNR had signed off -- signal improved to SINPO of 44444. HERE's how RNZP fared around 15.20 UTC.

Apparently RZNP started targeting the  Pacific region on this frequency from 20 May (the day of this log), and transmissions will be ONLY on Saturdays. Nice to catch RZNP. Always is. Always has been long favorite on the short-waves.

Reception report was emailed and submitted online the following day. Adrian Sainsbury replied with an eQSL on 22 May 2017, which is the standard operating procedure these days. Thank you, Adrian and Radio New Zealand Pacific!
