Free Radio Log for 22 February 2015

The short-wave bands were a hive of activity for free radio broadcasters this past Sunday, 22 February 2015. Several never-before-heard stations were on air and audible from Twente SDR receiver in the Netherlands. 

Radio Titanic*, transmitting from the Netherlands. Polka, schlager and  country & western tunes with station ID was monitored from 14.45 till 15.00 UTC. Reception on 6.242 kHz was (SINPO) 34443 -- fair signal, clear audio despite some atmospheric noise. Email address radiotitanicam@hotmail.com bounced.

Radio Northpole International* transmitting from  the Netherlands. A mix of German songs, disco and polka music was noted from 10.40 till 10.50 UTC. Reception on 6.260 kHz was (SINPO) 34433 -- fair and audible signal, with some atmospheric noise and fading. RR emailed.

Radio Mistero Ghost Planet*, transmitting from Italy. Tina Turner - "Simply the Best, more music, then station ID/jingle in English and Italian, and DJ announcing transmission closure was heard from 10.45 till 11.05 UTC. Reception on 7.297 kHz was (SINPO) 24322 -- weak but audible signal with atmospheric noise and fading. RR emailed. eQSLed.

Blue Star Radio* in the Netherlands, transmitting from Channel 292 in Germany. A mix of musical genres, including Michael Oldfield - "Never Get to France", Hollies - "Maryann", a Vangelis tune, Hollies - "Bus Stop", a few country & western songs and German schlager tunes, was monitored from 10.00 till 10.30 UTC. Reception on 6.070 kHz (SINPO): 55555 -- excellent signal strength, clear and audible transmission. RR emailed. Will send paper QSL for either Dutch postage stamps, two euros or dollar

Radio Geronimo Shortwave*, transmitting from the UK. Rock music with DJ comments between songs: "Breaking Glass", "The Spirit", Men At Work - "Who Can It Be Now", Wings - "Band on the Run", Tremeloes - "I'll Live My Life", Phil Collins - "Wish It Would Rain", Commodores - "Machine Gun" and more was observed from 09.15 till 09.45 UTC. Reception on 9.334 (not reported 9.335) kHz was (SINPO) 34343 -- fair signal, clear audio despite some atmospheric noise. RR emailed. eQSLed.
